Adam Caplan takes a look at quarterbacks who might be on the move in 2009 and where they might end up. The Vikings come up quite often here.
There are some other QBs that aren't mentioned in the article – like Byron Leftwich (probably not a good fit for Chilly's throw quickly/throw short KOA), J.P. Losman and Kyle Boller (probably not a good fit for anybody's offence), Matt Hasselback (Seattle says it's not trading him but what if the right offer came along ...), Chris Simms (no spleen jokes please) and Rex Grossman (kidding – just wanted to see if you were still paying attention).
The real nugget in Caplan's piece is he says a "league source" has blabbed that the Vikings may bring in two quarterbacks to challenge Tarvaris Jackson. Not sure how the Vikings could convince two QBs worth a damn to come to Minnesota and "compete" for a starting job when so many teams are looking for help at the position, but hey, shoot high guys.
It seems pretty clear Gus Frerotte won't be back with the team next season but if the Vikes do bring in two quarterbacks, that doesn't bode well for John David Booty's future with the team. Do I care? Not after what I saw during the 2008 preseason.
And here's hoping Jackson's mixed martial arts training somehow does something for his deep ball.
Have a fun Super Bowl Sunday everybody.

The article was depressing. I foresee all of the QBs besides Anderson and Garcia staying with their teams.
I would think that Garcia would be most likely the guy, but the Vikes haven't seemed to like him in the past.
Anderson to me was last year's version of Matt Cassel. Sure, he had one great season... but who knows what he can give you.
I don't know if we can expect a great improvement at QB next year. Favre would make for the most entertaining season, even if he can't get us to the big game.

Of the guys likely to be available Garcia would be my choice as well. But as you point out, he was available in 2007 and Childress elected to go with Jackson and there were never any reports that the Vikings even talked to him. Perhaps he told them he wasn't interested in coming there. I don't know. Now that Garcia's two years older, would the Vikings be still interested in him?
The Vikings could have a hard time upgrading the QB position. Coming back with Jackson, some unthreatening veternan backup and Booty will leave fans irate and probably kill ticket sales to home games. They probaby have to try hard to do something creative like they did with Jared Allen last season.
McNabb's situation is somewhat similar to Allen's. You've got a player who wants a raise and an extension. The Eagles may not be interested in giving him one. If talks between McNabb and management don't go well over the next month or so, the relationship could get testy and the Eagles could be open to trading him. That's what I'm hoping for anyway.
