I'll have more on the Vikings draft tomorrow. But here are the bios of the Vikes three picks from day two of the 2009 draft: cornerback Asher Allen, linebacker Jasper Brinkley and safety Jamarca Sanford.
Consulting Wes Bunting's 10-tier ranking of potential draftees, the Vikings picked Allen right where he should have gone. But they may have got a bit of a steal in Brinkley, who Bunting ranks as a second-to-third round talent, but who lasted until the fifth round.
And here are the names of the rookie free agents the Vikings have signed thus far.
Other stuff
Rick Spielman talks about the draft.
And Percy Harvin talks about being a Viking. Perhaps the most surprising thing in all this is that Brad Childress and Harvin have been getting along famously – texting each other, laughing and giggling during Chilly's visit with Harvin and his family in Florida last week. It's quite creepy.
Update
Access Vikings updated the list of undrafted rookie free agents the Vikings have signed. It differs slightly from the list provided last night.

I would have preferred the Vikes to have picked up another O lineman. We really need some help there, and Duke Robinson was available late in the 5th round. Would be a little weird since we picked up OK's center as a FA - we could have had three Oklahoma rookies on the line this year (but we'd actually be lucky if one made starter).
The extra LB and big d-back will possibly come in handy on special teams, where we were also in desperate need.
I'm pretty happy in general with our draft. It will be interesting to watch Harvin - (perhaps this was even part of the motivation, considering the terrible economy / ticket sales in sports).
Best case scenario, Harvin will become a explosive star with attitude of TO coupled with potential off-the-field drug issues. Smoking dope right before the combine doesn't only imply stupidity, it implies dependence (and it probably cost the young man anywhere between 5-10 million dollars). If he can't stay clean for the combine, I don't know how he's magically going to right the ship once he's a "big star".
Worst case scenario, Harvin leads an injury plagued, short lived career that is riddled with off-the-field issues and drug suspensions.
Still, I like the gamble and am excited to see Harvin in purple next fall. Most intriguing/exciting draft pick since Randy Moss.
Interesting point about Harvin and his possible dependence. If you can't lay off the Mary Jane with millions of dollars on the line, perhaps it's time to get some professional help. He's going to be able to afford it.
