Will it never end?

Brett Favre retires and is finally released by the New York Jets. So Viking beat writer Judd Zulgad can't help but speculate, and speculate some more, that maybe Favre isn't done just yet and that the Vikings addition of Percy Harvin might make him yearn to play for the Vikings even more in 2009.

Discuss this at length if you dare.

How do the 2009 Vikings compare to the 2008 Jets that started 8-3 with Favre? What results could be reasonably expected?

Except for QB, the Vikings are significantly better than the Jets were with the possible exception of WR (still an unknown) Also, the defense being better means playing from behind less, which means less need to take chances, which means less INT's. However, this is Bret Favre we are talking about. So that leaves us with my first conclusion....AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

NHV & Peter:

I was on the Favre-wears-purple bandwagon last summer. I figured if the Vikings could finish 8-8 with Tarvaris Jackson as their main QB, what could they do if they had a legit QB for two (or maybe) three years.

I don't want Favre now. He'd play one year and leave. And what are you getting in that one year? The spectacular throws seemed to be outnumbered by the craptastic ones last year. I'd rather roll with Rosenfels. (Peter – I still refuse to accept that Jackson will be our starter going into next season.)

DC: I'd like to see what a guy like Rosenfels could do with Minnesota's talent around him. Hopefully we'll get the chance. Shoot, if JDB had two years on the bench with a mentor of Frerotte's calibur, I'd be ready to see what he could do before preferring they trot Jackson out.
